Dear Odyssey-Baroque Fans,
The past several years, we have been generously supported by Dr. Barbara Tellerman, who has been loaning us her harpsichord for now an annual Baroque event. Now it is our turn to return the favor - she is participating in Missouri Contemporary Ballet's Dancing with Missouri Stars, and she needs our support! Follow this link and scroll down to her name to "vote" via Paypal for only $10: http://missouricontemporaryballet.com/2012/02/21/dancing-with-the-missouri-stars-2/

THANK YOU everyone for your kind support!! We had so much fun organizing and participating in the event, and it was really great to see you outside of the performance venue for once. Food was spectacular and your company EVEN better!! By the way, ALL the food was donated by various individuals in our community like you, and we made a whopping 20% towards our Season 9 concert budget. We really appreciate your help and support for us musicians and Odyssey programming. We look forward to seeing you at our next concert - featuring guest ensemble, eighth blackbird. This is my first time hearing them live, and I am SUPER excited to share this guaranteed jaw-dropping experience with everyone in Missouri. If you cannot make the concert, you can still catch them in action at one of the classes they are offering at MU throughout the week. You can find the schedule at http://music.missouri.edu/guests/blackbird.html . See you soon!

http://www.columbiatribune.com/news/2011/nov/27/making-spirits-bright/ One of our favorites, JSQ - which has performed Mendelssohn Octet with Esterhazy Quartet in our series in 2008 - announces the release of their debut album, The Kernis Project: Beethoven, featuring Beethoven Op. 59 No. 3 and Kernis No. 2 "musica instrumentalis". This is the first in a set of recordings on the Sono Luminus label that pair Kernis' magnificent quartets with their influences. Here's what JSQ has said about the project: "We greatly enjoy performing these works and feel fortunate to be able to record them for our first albums. Working with Mr. Kernis on his compositions has been enlightening and we would like to thank Astral Artists and everyone else who made this possible." This December, JSQ will record the second disc with Schubert "Death and the Maiden and Kernis No. 1 "musica celestis".
